At the beginning of the week, I had the best opportunity to work with the event coordinator of the Toyota Center, which is where the Houston Rockets play, on Monday and Tuesday they were hosting Coldplay and I got to shadow her and work with the production staff for Coldplay. They want a big light display with the fans and we help pass out wristband to fans that would light up during the show. Coldplay are great performer and it was a great show. After the concert, my week was filled developing games for the draft party for the Houston Rockets. With are the moves the Rockets made before the draft, they ended up with three first-round picks. At the draft party, I was excited to see what the organization would do in the first round. However, that night I was in charge of Chandler Parsons, who is the starting small forward for the Houston Rockets, and his appearances during the whole night festivities. I was given a schedule of appearances he needed to make that night and I had to make sure he stay on task. He was a great individual to work with I had a lot fun with him and the whole night was a success and the rockets pick up three key picks for the future of the organization.

This was game week for me because my first event was taking place. After going on vacation most of last week, marketing suffered a bit as the number of teams were low at the beginning of the week. My mentor and I decided to prepare more marketing material for the upcoming tournament and go to more local places trying to promote the event. One of favorite departments within the organization is the corporate service department and I had the opportunity to deliver end of the season gifts to corporate partner. The next couple days were preparation for the tournament on the weekend. We were unsure about the turnout for the event because the social and e-marketing teams were unable to post our tournament up on the web. However, we generate an email and sent the message to past participants and were able to secure enough teams for the tournament. On the day of the tournament, I was very anxious because I knew I was in charge and I have to report the event went off without a hiccup. Only problem was the lack of teams but we knew it was because the lack of e-marketing, roots efforts.

During this week, I was preparing for my basketball tournament the next weekend. My mentor and I thought of a marketing event to promote the upcoming tournament. I began working on the preparation for what called the promo tour. We had Marketing Associate go around to areas of known places where people plays basketball and interactive with fans and pass out marketing materials. However during this week, I had a previously planned vacation for the latter part of the week. While on vacation, I talked with my mentor on a daily basic through email and a couple times on the phone. This communication carries on throughout the duration of the internship. He provides great feedback and was an excellent teacher. He taught me different things on how the organization works on a daily basic.
